Working within the format of a test tube I created some packaging ideas. Some of the ideas I was exploring were based on the feedback from my tutorial with Amber, thinking about how spices are measured. Spices often have quite broad guidelines such as a 2 tsps, I wanted to create packaging that allows recipes to decipher a specific amount that is pre measured in the packaging. I was basing the concept on other cooking materials and science equipment such as measuring beakers.

The second area of experiment was around how the type will fit onto the tubes, and how the user will interact with the tubes, whether the abbreviation of the spice name needs to go on the top or the sides. Also as test tubes have circular bottoms they will not stand on a kitchen side without assistance so considering a flat bottom may be a better option, possibly even square test tubes?

I was also considering what form the publication will take, and how the herb and spices sections of the book will interact with one another. The first idea was to make two separate publications that fit together, however using a tipped in section of the book might be a more feasible and easier to relate to each section.

I also considered how the different categories that spices fit into could be incorporated in the format of the book - the idea expressed on this design sheet was by colour coding the bottom pages of the book making it easier to refer back to specific spices.
