BEAU - Type Progress

Been sketching up some typefaces that work on a square grid to fit onto the side of each of the rubix cubes individual faces. Also included some of the digital developments & experiments that led on from the initial sketches. I think the type has a lot of potential but definitely needs more development before it reaches completion.

It could be really interesting to create this typeface in my own time as well as for this brief, as its simple and easy to recreate on the computer and possibly even fontographer.
When the letters are condensed slightly they work much better, but they don't work as well when ___________________________________________________________________________

The digital files were much more effective when simplified and neatened up, but they all follow a similar form to that of the initial sketches. I was also doing some experiments with colour but I need to go back to the concept stage of the process before continuing with any more designs.

BEAU Design Sheets

Playing around with different concepts surrounding my feedback from the crit last week, I am putting this brief to the background slightly as my other briefs take more prominence. Apologies for the poor photo quality, I will draw my designs up in pen next time...

I am going to leave the rubixs cube where it for the moment and focus on the idea of representing turn by the different ways of interacting with vinyl's and their packaging.

The type on these designs works relatively well for the turn text but the beau is barley readable. Also when playing with the typeface I created on the grids it looks strange when distorted. Again something I will work on when I revisit this brief later on in the week.
