Feedback 1.02.12

Overall really pleased with quality and amount of feedback that I received, the main areas that I need to focus on are changing my designs to fit with the more 4 updated branding from this week. Generally people liked the aesthetic and were keen on the overall visual identity that I have created for the programme. I will be picking up on points made during this crit through the rest of my practice posts, also I need to start thinking about the packaging for my DVD.

My questions I wanted answering
Are the visual experiments clear enough about the content of the programme?
Does the music / sound work effectively with the clips / idents & why?
Is it consistent with the channels branding? - Colour / type / image

Strengths
Storyboards are amazing, communicate really well
Good visuals
Geometric shapes are interesting
Blog is well organised
Mechanic noises work really well in the 10 second, but what would work in the 60 second?
Sound is reminiscent of machinery, linked with bridges / industrial
Channel choice works, seems like an interesting more 4 programme
Grand designs type feel to idents / designs

Areas for Improvement
Consider time / pace on storyboards - give a better idea of time
Ident - keep the time and title on for a bit longer
Quite simple - but effective
Motion should reflect more with the sound / visuals are to fluid
More 4 Logo change
'Bridges' and 'architecture of connection' are different paces
Second ident sound perhaps to fluid, previous idents with the mechanical sounds work better

Considerations
Like the more abstract ident because they work well visually, really engaging, makes the subject more interesting
Sound works - fitting with the visual content
Visual experiments are pretty clear, give enough info but interesting at the same time
What is the title sequence going to be like, the abstract idents are intriguing, will the sequence be more obvious?
More 4 is suddenly colourful - take this into consideration, current ideas use minimal colours
Try to en-corporate the motion and mechanics of a bridge rather than just moving sections of a bridge
