Self evaluation of my current progress with an action plan to keep myself organised and maintain design direction (in addition to my ever growing to do list).
Been a particularly slow week while trying to work with imagery and decide on a final set of visuals, haven't paid enough attention to the technical side based around channel choice / target audience etc.
Design Direction
Strengths -
Appropriate to content of the programme
Clean and well delivered
Obvious relation to the clean shapes of modernist architecture
Weaknesses -
Idea of form follows function needs to be re-evaluated and delivered in the appropriate form
Not enough research into channel choice
Design Development
Strengths -
Consistent development
Sufficient approaches to dealing with imagery
All imagery has relevant content but needs to be simplified to work in motion
Weaknesses -
Some more research into defining the top 10
Need to research current architectural publications and programming
Allows me to define a justified and relevant aesthetic
Start putting the scans back onto the computer and working with them using motion
Visual Quality
Strengths -
Relevant to content (architecture / structural engineering and design)
Simple visuals have a well communicated impact
Strong variety of approaches to dealing with imagery - scanning / digital / photographs
Weaknesses
Not enough After Effects development, spend less time storyboarding and get them into After Effects
Create more visual variations - but don't want to change the overall aesthetic
Also need to relate back to the aesthetics of the More 4 current identity
Technical Competence
Strengths -
Able to visualise my ideas and understand my technical skills while storyboarding
Growing competence in After Effects software
Overall improved understanding of motion graphics - what works and what isn't possible
Weaknesses -
Initial storyboards focusing on 3D will be hard to complete under the current time constraints
Will have to move into 3D software to complete them (depending on how complicated they are)

Action Plan
More research into architecture plans - define a final visual aesthetic
Create some scale designs of the bridges - more visual work to explore through motion
Cut out and finalise photographs of the top 10 bridges to work with - again more visuals to explore
Create another set of experimental videos - work towards some more pre composed ideas.
Make and pre-compose a new set of compositions - Much easier to work on more layers
