19.1.12

Progress Crit 18.01.12

Was extremely happy with the constructive feedback on the first sheet that was filled out for me but slightly disappointed with the second which consisted of 'good visuals' 'good ... etc'. Because of this I got opinions and feedback from some other class mates so that I could make the necessary developments with my project.

Main areas that I picked up on from the crit were -
Unclear what the content of the programme is - after a study into current idents very few show the content of the programme but with the obvious architectural connotation's make it obvious enough, this view was shared from further feedback.
Is the top ten your personal opinion? - Need to define my top ten and describe why I have made the choices
Time of the programme - research into TV programming and change the time accordingly

Strengths
Interesting clear concept
Defined style comes through strongly
Colour scheme will be effective when applied
Architectural style of the work is well communicated
Clear understanding of subject matter, well researched
Well developed approach
Good aesthetics mixing vector design and images
Clear direction
Good minimal colour choice
Good research into bridges, maps and photograph's

Areas for Improvement
The title sequence possibly doesn't include enough information about the content of the programme
What are the top ten bridges?
Who are your specific audiences? Does the imagery tie in with them?
Mainly image based?
Whats the content? what bridges and why?
What information will you include? Infographics?

Considerations
Is the top ten your personal opinion? - How is it defined? No mention of top 10 in ident
3rd Page of visual experiments - Image with vector has a lot of potential, defiantly think you should pursue that style. Accompanied with the After Effects visuals I think it would work hand in hand with the nature of your project.
Maybe put it at a different time, more people may be interested in bridges show later

Action Plan
Define target audience and justify choice - To define visuals and who the idents need to appeal to
Experiment with visuals - scanner / photoshop - Give depth to the video, makes it less static
Storyboards / time lines - need to get an idea of pace / movement.
Decide on a title - identifies the subject matter
Decide typeface - Identifies tone / appeals to audience
Movement - Creates a sense of depth
Finalise Audio - Will inform pace and tone
